What do flower, First Fruits and Summer Classics have in common? They all worked together on November 30th to bring Christmas cheer to the ladies of the Birmingham YWCA. Margot Shaw, our editor-in-chief, used hundreds of yards of gorgeous ribbon donated by Summer Classics to teach residents to make big frothy bows that would then crown the lush greenery and berry-filled wreaths that Marsha Drennen of First Fruits taught them to make. One of the numerous volunteers, Mary Noel Sellars, shepherded the women through making small arrangements with greenery.
We all felt “joyful and triumphant” as we experienced the blessing of teaching and learning how to create beauty. – Merry Christmas to all!
